How
to reach Syracuse
By rail :
The United States House of
Representatives plans to hold a public rail safety hearing later this month in
Dewitt near Syracuse.
Representatives from several
counties, CSX, and Amtrak will attend to provide members of congress with
information on the condition of the railway system in New York. The deaths of a
Henrietta couple at the Winton Road rail crossing in February in which CSX
admitted crossing gate failure fueled the hearing locally.

By car
The
most common time a person will rent a car is when on vacation. If you fly to
your vacation destination, bringing your car with you is simply not an option.
Some areas have public transportation you can use, but getting a taxi service
every time you want to go out is not only an added expensive, but also an
impracticality. Unless you intend to explore the same area each and every day
of your vacation, you are going to need a rental car.
By Air :
Syracuse,
NY -- The $366.76 average fare for a domestic flight out of Syracuse's Hancock
Airport is the highest in New York state and the 21st highest in the country,
according a federal report released by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics.
Prices in
Syracuse have jumped 7.6 percent from the fourth quarter of 2006, when the
average fare was $340.92. John F. Kennedy International Airport had the
second-highest average fare in the state at $351.57.
