History of Coorg                                                             
 
Kodagu was included in the Kingdom of Gangas during 9th and 10th centuries and Cholas in the 11th century. Changalvas were feudatory to both the above dynasties but they were independent till 14th century since Hoysalas overthrew Cholas in the 12th century. Changalvas accepted the supremacy Of Hoysalas from 14th to 16th century. Then Nayakas who later paved the way to the Haleri Rajas of Kodagu ruled till 1834.

Abbey Falls

During the flowering season of March and April, the rich aroma of coffee wafts through the air of Coorg. Most of them are under multiple cropping of coffee, orange, black pepper, and cardamom at the bottom of the slopes. Plantations are beautifully maintained with modern irrigation and curing and processing facilities for the beans.

Madikeri
Known for its quaint old world charm, the town of Madikeri is the district headquarters of Coorg. Situated at an elevation of 1525 m, the cluster of red-roofed dwellings provides a soothing contrast to the rolling hills around. The 19th century Madikeri Fort houses a number of monuments and shrines within its stone ramparts. Raja's seat perched atop a hill, is where the kings of yore spent many pleasant evenings watching the golden sunset.

Coorg
There are lots of tourist attractions in the city of Coorg. In fact each and every places of Coorg is a tourist destination. Among these some of the common places loved by majority are Madikeri, Abbey Falls, Somwarpet, and Nagarhole National Park. Madikeri is popularly known as the Scotland of the East. It is in fact the largest tourist accumulating place of Coorg. Dense forest with misty environment around the hilly area makes it a dreamland for many of the tourists. The misty water falls of Abbey Falls makes it a popular tourist place in Coorg by tracing the attention of the passersby irresistibly.
