Back to Tourist Place in Austria How to reach Eisenstadt Board one of the many trains heading toward Budapest from the Südbahnhof (South Railway Station) in Vienna, and change trains in the railway junction of Neusiedl am See. Connections are timed to link up with the 16 or so trains that continue on to Eisenstadt (trip time: 90 min.). For schedules, call tel. 05/1717 in Vienna, or check oebb.at. Don't expect the glamour or variety of Vienna's shopping scene, but with a little effort, you might find some tempting shops in Eisenstadt's old town. Most appealing to visitors in our opinion is Trachten Tack, Hauptstrasse 8 (tel. 02682/62428), where you'll find folkloric Burgenland-derived clothing, as well as the widest selection of handicrafts in town.Carrying an impressive inventory of wine, Schloss Weingut Esterházy, Schloss Esterházy (tel. 02682/63345), is set on the street level of Eisenstadt's most famous building. Most of the wine is produced on the 60 hectares (148 acres) of vineyards associated with the castle. One part of the store is devoted to native son Josef Haydn and sells souvenirs related to his musical theories and accomplishments. Graz Airport remains a high flyer – the positive trend in passenger numbers continued in 2007. A total of 948,140 passengers chose Graz Airport Graz as the starting point or destination of their travels, which means an increase of about 35,000 passengers compared to 2006, or 3.9% growth.
